From the southern part of Germany, we talk to Uwe (@rule_number_9) who earns his living as a software engineer and developer. Ruthlessly efficient and effective in both his choice of EDC and words, Uwe has a preference for overbuilt folders and small, 'tanky' fixed blades. Read on for the full rig rundown, and find out more about Uwe's EDC philosophy.

My story:
My name is Uwe and I live in a small town in the southern part of Germany with my wife and my son. I will turn 50 years this winter (hopefully 😉). I earn my living as a software developer.
I started using and collecting knives when I was a kid already. Have 2 or 3 pieces left from back then. Lots of knives went through my hands over the years from cheap to very expensive. My collection is always relatively small though.
I am not a collector in the sense of hoarding knives. I don't display them at home either. I use everything I have. So I trade or sell everything that doesn't become a favorite.
Currently I have 8 folders and 7 fixed blades in my rotation. I love big overbuilt folders and small tank-like fixed blades. Don't like the fancy stuff though. Got to be tactical. I just like it that way.
My hobbies are hiking, traditional archery, working in the garden. The biggest hobby are knives though. I love to share pics on my Instagram and to get in contact with other knife enthusiasts from all over the world.
Favorite EDC tool:
My favorite pieces are from Strider, Medford and Benchmade.
What's on my gear radar:
My next purchase might be a Medford Praetorian. I already had a few but sold them. Missing them quite a bit so I will add one again.

Born and raised in Ogden, Utah, Landon (@rockymountaincarry) used to be a competitive bodybuilder and powerlifter. Nowadays, he works in marketing and business relations and spends his time with his family. Read on to find out how Landon first got into EDC and learn about his fascination with Victorinox Alox models.
Featured Tools:
Knife 02: Victorinox Swiss Army Knife
This is a customized compact model with a screwdriver, stone/acid washed tools and titanium Swiss Bianco Scales done by Ricardo Garcia. I dress every SAK I own with an Ammo lanyard from my friend Bart Smith @bugoutbart. They can usually be seen hanging out of my pocket as a pull tab.
Flashlight: Klarus Mi7
I love the blasted titanium finish on this thing. I strongly urge those who do not EDC a light to give it a try going into these darker months and see just how often it gets used. I think most people will be surprised.
Background:
My name is Landon Waters and I currently live in Ogden, Utah where I was born and raised. I work in marketing and business relations for a very large retailer. I used to compete in bodybuilding and powerlifting but now I just exercise enough to stay in decent shape and spend most of my free time doing activities with my family and reading.
I got into EDC in college when my friends and I went on a camping trip. I ended up using my pocket knife so much that I decided to start taking it with me whenever I left the house for school and work.
That was my only EDC item for while. A few years later my best friend passed away and his brothers and I took turns picking from his knife collection. I went straight for a shiny one with his name engraved on it. That knife ended up being my favorite style and the first in a perpetually growing collection of Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, more specifically Alox Cadets.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite item in this lineup would have to be the Victorinox SAK. Just so many useful tools in one.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I have near identical setups in aluminum, brass, and copper. There is just something attractive about different metals and finishes as a way to add variety to mundane daily activities. I would really love to add a pen from SCHONDSGN to the collection and a custom #bwsak from BRASSWERX.

From the rugged land down under, we chat with Chris (@cray_edc) who’s been working as a Water and Wastewater Operator for the last 20 years. Naturally, his EDC comes in handy in the line of duty, so he knows a thing or two about selecting the right tool for the job. Read on for Chris’ full rig rundown and learn how he puts his gear to the best use – day in and day out.
Featured Tools:
Background:
My name is Chris, and I live in a small coastal town called Pambula, on the far south coast of NSW Australia. I currently work as a Water and Wastewater operator for the local water authority. I have been in this position for the last 20 years. My EDC comes in very handy on the job. I use my flashlight for inspecting pits and manholes, prybar for opening valve covers, and a knife for general utility use.
I first got into EDC in my younger years, with the influence of my father. Camping and fishing where the two hobbies at that time that gave me the need to carry a pocket knife and a flashlight. I thought I was pretty cool. Today the EDC passion has grown on me, and I now find the need to carry every day. I now find myself with quite a large collection of all sorts of EDC items, which has now turned into a hobby itself.
Today my hobbies and interests are fishing, camping, bushcraft, hiking, photography, playing the guitar, and collecting EDC gear. I have a love for the great outdoors.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite EDC tool would have to be the Zach Wood pocket pry bar, because of the quality workmanship and need for little to no maintenance. A rub of oil now and then to prevent rust and it’s good to go. There is no need to worry about scratches or dropping it on concrete, as it was designed to be tough. 3V steel is exceptional for this application. this is a hard use tool ready for anything to be thrown at it.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
For my next EDC purchase, I would like it to be a Strider SMF or SNG. I have been on the hunt for a while now. I know they are getting harder to find as they are discontinued, but I still keep my hopes up that one will become available to me soon.

A proud New Jersey native, we chat with Bill (@billdryzoc) about his passion for well-designed and well-made tools, and how he went down the EDC rabbit hole through Peter McKinnon (didn't we all?). Read on learn what's Bill's favorite EDC tool, and the full rig rundown of his thoughtfully curated carry where each piece tells a part of his story.

What's your story:
I was born and raised in a central New Jersey shore town. I moved a little inland seven years ago to get more open space and start a family. I’m now married eight years this December and have a two and a half year old son. I work for a technology company as a public cloud specialist focusing on Azure, AWS and Google cloud.
Ever since high school I’ve always felt a need to be prepared outside my home. Bags and backpacks became an obsession especially in the warmer summer months when pocket space is a premium.
Wallet, keys, phone, chapstick and sometimes a pen we’re always at the ready. Around 2019 I watched a Peter McKinnon YouTube video about his EDC and that took me down the rabbit hole of the current EDC community.
I got more into knives, lights, multi tools, pouches and ranger eyes. I started posting my gear layouts on Instagram and fell in love the the EDC community.
I’m an early morning gym rat so that’s my main hobby.
Before EDC I was super into the bodybuilding and the fitness world. I even did a daily transformation vlog on YouTube for a couple months right before Covid hit. If you look back on my IG you can see a ton of posts about that.
Going on vacation to Disney with my family is the other passion. We are in the Disney vacation club and try to go at least once a year. I’m also into making music and videos so my last couple Disney vacations are up on my YouTube channel as daily vlogs.
Favorite EDC Tool:
It’s a toss up between the Axon and Beer Bomb. The Axon is my only true lefty knife and was my first big knife purchase. I carry it almost every Monday for Micarta Monday. The Beer Bomb was a huge score and my first Beer Bomb at the time. Tom’s designs are so amazing and he’s an awesome dude to chat with on IG.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Im saving up for a Vero Engineering Lefty Synapse in natural micarta. I’m always on the lookout for true Lefty knives which are few and far between.

From Hong Kong, we catch up with the high-flying Aaron who works as an air steward. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys capturing moments during his travel and even carries a disposable film camera everywhere he goes. Read on to find out all about Aaron's clean and considered everyday carry, and find out what's next on his gear radar.
Featured Tools:
What's your story:
My name is Aaron and I work as an air steward. Not to be confused with the pretty ladies you see on board, I'm the grunt that does the graft. I joined the aviation industry because it allows me to see the world, and although it's tough work, I enjoy my job tremendously and take pride in doing my best for every flight.
The pandemic years were tough, especially for my chosen industry, but tough times make tough people. It was also during the pandemic that I started getting into EDC as a concept. I've always enjoyed photography and all the gear that it involves, so I took to EDC quite naturally.
The idea of being prepared, and being self-sufficient really struck home. I think as city-slickers, we forget how to fend for ourselves. So it's nice to know that I can get myself out of a fix when push comes to shove.
In addition to EDC, I also like to document life around me as it happens. Whenever I'm in a new place, new country, I try my best to capture the mood and people of the destination. I think it's important to broaden our horizons, and realise that there are so many different things and people and places out there, and not get stuck in our ways.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Definitely the Leatherman Wingman. It does everything and it looks good. It's also built to last and I love that all the important tools are spring-loaded, which means you can use it one-handed. I can't imagine a better multi-tool.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I'm not sure if this qualifies as EDC, but considering that I'm planning to carry it everywhere, I'm considering getting a Leica digital camera. Not the most practical, but definitely the most charming. I'm a sucker for such things.

From Frankfurt, Germany by way of Lithuania, Viktor (@knife_or_die) has always sought adventure. That explains his unbridled passion about his job as a forestry worker, where he gets to walk among the tall trees and work in the great outdoors. Read on to learn all about Viktor’s EDC journey from collector to a minimalist user, along with a bonus tip on how to acquire your favorite gear.
Featured Tools:
What's your story:
I was born in Lithuania, a little Baltic State. When I was 10 years old, we moved to Germany. Now we live near Frankfurt, Germany.
After finishing middle school, I went to the Professional Forestry School. Now I work as a forestry worker for a state enterprise. I've always sought adventure and outdoors, this was the perfect solution to include my passion in my career.
The work is hard, but for me, it's a dream. Being outside, smelling the fresh air is something awesome. The only bad part of the job is that I can't carry my gear at work, after losing some knives I decided to stop taking them with me.
EDC started in the Forestry School. Bought my first knife because of two 'knife heads' from my school class. After that, there was nothing that could stop me. Knives and tools. I bought everything I thought that it was cool.
Now, two years later all the gear is gone. I've reduced everything to a minimum. My setup contains just a few knives and a little bit of gear and that’s still more than enough. I'm no longer a collector, now I just use my stuff and that’s my greatest pleasure.
The social media part started last year. After being inspired by the same great knife community members on Instagram, I've bought a camera and started shooting pictures for my own feed. Never thought that the people would like my pictures because...I must admit, I had no idea how to use my camera and edit the pictures. I must thank a lot of people for supporting me and helping me to improve.
Favorite EDC Tool:
The Wallet. Definitely the true EDC, not even a day without it. Why did I get one? Well, I hate coins and it doesn't even fit into the wallet. And I mean, leather?! Classy, huh? It's slim and has the right size for the pockets. You don’t even feel it. The wallet contains my cards, a Fisher Space Pen and a Victorinox Cadet. Probably already enough gear for the normal daily challenges.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Well, I'm thinking about to get an upgrade for the pen in my EDC. The Tactile Turn Zirconium Bolt action pen has caught my attention, the design and the deep black colour is crazy. When I held one in my hands, I fell in love. Awesome quality and a big fidget factor on that one too. Can't wait to get mine!

What's in your carry?
What's your story?
My name is Doug. I live on a farm in the midwestern part of the US. I'm currently working in a metal manufacturing plant on an Emergency Response team. When I’m not putting my time in there, I’m running my own photography business.
To top it all off, I’m also a father of three wonderful children. It can get really crazy at times when the scheduling gets tight. Every day is a new day, I'm constantly learning new things about my work or what's popular with the youth. This life makes EDC a very important part of my life. You never know what you’re getting into next.
I’ve always been prepared for the worst. I would always carry a knife and light before I even got into the EDC community. A couple of years ago my friend was looking for a photographer to take shots of his Kydex sheaths. He asked me to do it, knowing my past. Then I did some research and came across the Instagram #edccommunity. Then it just took off from there.
I don’t have too much free time working multiple jobs, but during the summer work can be slow. During that time, I do a lot of outdoor activities with my kids. Fishing, hiking, cycling.
Favorite EDC Tool?
This is a very tough question. I use every piece every day and love each one. If I had to choose, it would be the Anthem. It's an amazing blade with great texture and good looks. Plus when it's not being used as a knife, it plays a great role as a fidget toy.
What's On Your Gear Radar?
I've got my eyes on a few. A LynchNW pry tool and a custom titanium Swiss Army Pioneer.

What's your story:
Hello! My Name is Adriel, I'm 44 years old and it's been two years since I dove into the rabbit hole we call EDC. I just remember my father always having a watch on his wrist and a folding knife in his pocket and it always intrigued me.
My wife and I recently purchased my grandparents home in California. From working on our new home, and going on outdoor adventures, EDC fits into my life more so now than ever before.
I was a caretaker for last seven years to my grandfather. He had been diagnosed with alzheimer's and dementia and required 24/7 supervision. My wife and I decided it was best I stayed home to care and assist him with his day to day needs, such as cooking and cleaning.
Above all, I tried giving my Grandfather the best quality of life. We went out frequently for walks and adventures. Assembling a pack with basic first aid, a watch with an alarm for his medications, and pocket knife for good measure. He loved the outdoors and seeing new locations and the familiar ones brightened up his day.
Sadly, we lost him to the disease at the young age of 95 years. Shortly after his passing my wife and I decided to purchase his home with all the memories we had created with him. We are now creating new memories while remodeling and starting a new chapter in a home that has been in my family for 45 years.
My father is the one who instilled the basics of EDC from watches, pocket knives and outdoors gear in me. Ever since I could remember my father would take me hiking, camping and hunting at a young age.
I learned first hand how important it was to be prepared and to have the right tools for the job. While caring for my Grandfather and living in the city, my EDC evolved but the basics remained the same. I never knew there was community of makers, artists, and people who shared the same passions I did.
Joining online groups and social media platforms allowed me to make friends with people around the world, this has been one of the most enriching parts of this journey. Planning a carry for the day before is always exciting.
Tomorrow's task and duties can affect the type of knife I carry in my pocket, the watch I place on my wrist, which multi-tool to bring. From there my passion for collecting has grown and continues to this day.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Right now my favorite EDC tool would have to be a folder. I'm currently obsessed with the Urban EDC Supply and Voxnaes F5.5. Wow!! This knife is just quality from the size, ergos, blade design, and materials. It's a workers knife with some sass and class!
What's On Your Gear Radar:
I'm very excited to see what the GiantMouse team is coming out with this year.

In addition to being a huge fan of Fox Knives and Jesper Voxnaes, he also has a love affair with the Urban EDC 5.5. What's your story:
My name is Dwayne Maikel, and I live in the Netherlands. And I have been a full time photographer for almost 10 years now!
During the C*vid period all my weddings and events were cancelled so my camera's needed to do something else :) Something indoor.. Hence EDC photography.
My love and passion for knives (and tools) began at a young age! Both my uncles were carrying some victorinox knives. I was fascinated by it! But coming from a single parent family the possibilities to get my own victorinox wasn't possible.
But then a lot of years later all of a sudden, by a friend of mine, the love for EDC came (back)! And I couldn't be happier! By the end of 2020 my collection began to grow more and more. My interest and knowledge of knives, steels, tools etc grew!
And by the start of 2021 I started the Panda.Pirates page on IG! And to be honest this was the best thing that could happen during the c*vid period. The IG community is a great place full of amazing people from all over the world. We share a passion and a hobby that is not for everybody. But the people that do are so passionate!
Big shoutout to all the amazing people in the community!
At the start of my 'EDC life' I was fascinated by the @foxknives knives.
Especially by the SURU/YARU and the Core's. All created by the master himself; Jesper Voxnaes. To be having one of these someday would be amazing. Well.. I got them. A lot in the meantime. And I love them!
Going fast forward to the end of 2022. I met a lot of great people, worked with a lot of cool and amazing companies. Creating art together through photos.
And then my grail knife arrived; the Urban EDC F5.5 in Natural Micarta! And at the same time I bought the Black Micarta one from a buddy from the IG Community.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Not because you guys asked.. But this is my favorite for sure: the Urban EDC F5.5.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
There is always something.. haha. But to have all the 5.5 variations is a goal for me.

I have always found a reason to support and mentor young people who may not have the opportunities I have had. However, my family background is in hospitality, so part of the knife obsession comes from the kitchen. I supported my father for 16 years in hospitality and spent most of my early teens and mid-20s in a kitchen or behind a pizza oven!
Photography is a great hobby of mine, using my drone and creating photos and digital memories. But what really keeps sane, is my passion for mountain biking and trail running.
I enjoy the outdoors and always up for a long ride or run, this includes hiking and the great outdoors. We are lucky in Australia there are many places to explore. However, the main hobby is my family, spending time with family is more valuable to me than anything else.

So, read on for the full story and of course, Aaron's full rig rundown.
What's in your carry?
What's your story?
I’m currently serving as the Technical Director at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. Originally from the Chicago area, our family moved to CA approximately 5 years ago to join the team at Saddleback.
I’ve always been drawn to the mechanical and technical aspects of production and have a real passion for studio production and live mixing. In my current role, I get to lead the team that supports all events and live broadcasts from our main campus. I still frequently find myself doing all sorts of hands-on projects to keep my construction and troubleshooting skills sharp. Recently I’ve enjoyed serving as FOH mix engineer with some well-known artists as well.
I’ve only been into EDC for a little over a year. Last Christmas my dad gifted me a Spyderco Delica, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, and a 12 space knife case. I think he knew what he was doing when he included the case!
No way could I resist filling the 10 sad, empty spaces. I started carrying one of the knives daily as a way to be a bit more connected to my dad. I didn’t realize how many times I’d have use for a knife in my days.
Shortly after starting to carry daily, memories of my granddad offering his well-worn pocket knife to open gifts, whittle a stick, scrape something clean, or pry something free flooded my mind. Suddenly I had a whole new motivation. I want to pass these memories on to my kids and grandkids someday too. This was the last factor that really solidified my commitment to carrying pocket tools.
Shortly after, I stumbled on some Instagram posts of EDC gear and found that there were whole accounts entirely dedicated to these beautiful EDC tool layouts. This really kick-started my interest in other EDC tools and the edc community on Instagram.
My eldest daughter and I setup a dedicated account for EDC pics and started posting daily. She taught me about photo filters and hashtags and I became interested in seeing how good I could make my posts look using natural light and my phone camera.
So far, this hobby has been so rewarding! I’m learning new skills in sewing, leatherwork, knife modding, photography; meeting so many great community members, and teaching my family and friends about what I’m learning. I’m committed to daily posts through the year and will see what’s next after that!
Finally, when it comes to hobbies, EDC has definitely become my main obsession. I’ve never really had a hobby that could be scaled to fit my life. I’ve always gotten into pretty consuming interests. This is different in that I can give it the time I have and it’s not requiring great effort to keep up with. Learning about, collecting, carrying, and using quality pocket tools is a super fun way to bring a little extra joy to my life.
Favorite EDC Tool?
It’s so hard to pick just one item but I think the Benchmade Bugout really fits my needs and style quite well. I love how light and easy to carry it is. It’s a great slicer and it’s long enough that things like cutting foam blocks, food prep, and slicing are not a problem.
Secondly, I don’t use it super often but it’s so handy to have a small pen handy for the odd signature, business card swap, etc that seem to never have pens handy. The space pen fits this bill so well at a really affordable price.
What's On Your Gear Radar?
This past year has been pretty heavy with a huge learning curve into the world of EDC and I dove in headfirst. With the continual support of my dad, I’ve managed to collect many of the tools I really was curious about. That said, there is always more out there. I think this year will focus on refining the collection a bit and chasing a few gems. I’m anxiously awaiting the hopeful release of the production Shamwari. This will likely be one of my next acquisitions.

Featured Tools:
Knife: Christensen KW Maverick S
I absolutely love the Christensen KW Maverick S. In my opinion it's one of the best production knives of all time (strong words I know).
SAK: Victorinox Alox
I normally carry a multitool (l Iove alox scales) and a pry of some sort, I prefer one with torx bits contained in the design but sometimes I will carry one without.
Watch: Apple Watch Nike Edition
I always rock a watch, either my Apple Watch Nike Edition or one of my G-Shock watches.
Sunglasses: Blenders
My go to sunglasses are the Blenders x2s ... I wear them everyday but switch between a bunch of colorways.
Fidget tool: Lefty Design
That damned design spinner is all Kevin's (Lefty's) fault... I used to not be in the fidget game, but now I have fallen for it hard (Kev was purposefully giving me a bunch until I started carrying them every day.
Bag: Peak Design
One last thing I wanted to mention about my carry is the fact that you will never catch me without a backpack. My bag of choice is the Peak Design Everyday Carry Backpack 30L.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite piece of EDC equipment is currently my Koenig Arius... I love that thing.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
In terms of gear that is on my radar that I am looking to get, I am very excited about the Divo Buzz pre order, I Want Brian Brown FSD, One day I hope to add a Ti. F5.5 to my collection (I have a copper one and a micarta one). I'm a huge Kizer fan so I also cannot wait for the Kizer Escort to drop!

From Switzerland, we chat with Carrey who travels the world as a pharmaceutical project manager. Growing up near Solingen, Carrey has always been drawn to knives and over the years, he has found a sweet spot of what and how much to carry. Read on for Carrey's full rig rundown, and find out what's next on his gear radar.
Featured Tools:
Knife: Fox Knives Suru Arctic Storm (Limited Edition)
I like small knives and Voxnaes Designs a lot. The fat carbon scales are really beautiful in real life (photos do not give them justice) and with the CPM- 20CV steel it becomes a little workhorse. Small and sturdy and it will not give a f*** at what you are throwing at it.. Also the titanium framelock with the thicker blade locks in with such a nice sound which gives me goosebumps.
SAK: Victorinox Compact (Daily Customs titanium scales labyrinth)
For me in an urban environment the compact is the best Vic. It just has the right combination of tools (scissors, tweezers and the needle, you won't believe how often I use it) and it is nice to have a secondary blade in case you need to cut food for the kids and you have been poking in some nasty stuff before. I recently upgraded it with the Daily Customs (a small Hamburg based company) scales which brought it to another level.
Flashlight: Olight E3t EOS Titan
I liked the small form factor of a AAA flashlight after all more, though, I appreciate the length. Maybe I'm getting old, there is now a too small for me. The simple user interface with 5 and a 180 lm is perfect for me. In an EDC I do not need more during a regular day. I do like back clicky flashlights a lot more and the price was more than reasonable.
Pen: Fisher Space Pen Bullet
The small form factor was the main reason I was drawn to it. It vanished in my pocket and it came in really handy. The black one was the best haptic when I was trying the different models site by site. That it will write under all conditions is a nice add on but not a necessity for me.
Wallet: Secrid Miniwallet
This is my main wallet with the ability to also store bills. I like the mechanism to fan out the card which works perfect and it holds all the cards I need. I tripped over it at my local dealer and was instantly in love. The leather is now aging nicely with leaving little scratches etc. Overall small and does the job + looks good at it.
Key organizer: Orbitkey Organizer
A key organizer is crucial to me since I am also often wearing functional outdoor stuff, and this is to prevent damages to the garment. The crazy horse leather is just nice and ages so nicely. Overall I liked the color a lot. It also helps to keep the volume down since the keys are not fanning out.
Keychain flashlight: Olight I2R EOS desert tan
Super small, cheap (I got it for free) and rechargeable keychain flashlight. It is a just in case always around backup flashlight with two modes.
Hook: 877workshop Driver Fish Hook St Christopher brass
Fish hook keychain made in Japan with a St Christopher which is the holy patron of travelers. Before Covid I have been traveling quite a bit, hence, I liked the idea that somebody is having an eye on me I am traveling. The hook itself is super easy to get on and off your pants, super convenient
Key attachment: Peak Design
To my keychain there is also a peak design attachment, simply while traveling I use their backpack and I can securely attach the chains with it without worrying that I will lose them.
Hank: Infinity Hank
A hank with a microfiber cloth coming in practical wearing glasses as well as cleaning your knife or hands.
Case: Rapha Rainproof Essential Case
I am living as a foreigner in Switzerland and need to carry a rather bulky ID. The case also holds my wallet, a bit of band aid, some coins etc. It guarantees that the stuff does not get icky when throwing in the back pocket of my jersey while out riding (living close to borders I need to have my documents with me). Additionally I do not need to think twice using different bags that I miss to stuff the needed ID etc.
Coin: Shire Post Mint Hammered Worry Coin
Just a worry coin made from copper. Like that the coin is made of copper due its antibacterial properties. It sits in my pocket and is my fidget tool if the knife might not be appropriate.
Background
Hi, I am Carrey based in Switzerland working as a project manager optimizing processes for a big pharmaceutical company. Hence, I do travel the world for work quite a bit.
Over the years I developed some needs/taste to what I do need while on the road (a blade, scissors, tweezers etc.) or privately roaming with kids. I went all the way carrying too much to not have at hand what I need… I hope that I am hitting by now a sweet spot. Oh well, ask me in a year or two when everything has changed again.
Besides work, I enjoy the outdoors with my kids in Switzerland hiking or just being outside. I am also since over 30 years a passionate bike rider. Mostly mountain and downhill biking + commuting to work.
Lately, I switched to the new trend of gravel riding since it is more like the 90s mountain biking and I can combine fun and commuting a bit easier since I can now hit the local trails a lot easier without losing the ability to go fast on the road. For me the perfect combination. The riding also cleans my thoughts after hard days at work.
Growing up next to one of the traditional German knife towns (Solingen) I had always drawn to knives. Even my Grand Grandfather assembled knives for a living. Really into EDC I got through my travels and kids. It might have been laziness just having the needed things “on board” rather than packing it up every time or running around in the house fetching it. I guess I am just plain lazy.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Puh, hard one. If you need to press me, the Vic Compact with the daily customs scales. It just has the most needed things in a small form factor which vanishes in my pocket. With the scales it is just the next level and the haptic has improved so much I could not believe it. Close second is my key chain with the hook.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
If I find a similar sized flashlight with back click and a real moonlight modes (handy to check on the kids during night) for a reasonable price (below 50 bucks) – I am tempted.
Besides that I am currently quite happy and it works really well. Though, the main blade is also on rotation with Benchmade Mini Bugout (with Micarta Flytanium Scales) and the Mini Bugout blacked out (super stealthy with black pants for the office). There is only one next knife and then I am done.

Featured Tools:
Knife: Urban EDC F5.5 Titanium M390
This is my go-to knife for opening packages and other cutting uses. Great action, solid weight with the Wharncliffe M390 blade and titanium scales. Paired with Gray 550 and the Combat Beads Civilian bead in Ultem.
Wallet: Ekster Carbon Forged Cardholder
I love this as it's a slim minimal carbon fiber cardholder with a quick-release trigger to cascade my cards for easy access.
Watch: Casio AE1200 Worldtime
Budget beater daily timepiece with an interesting face and a solid feature set.
Keys: Orbitkey Key Organizer in Black Saffiano Leather
Takes the jingle outta my keys and adds organization to my key stack. Finished with fine textured leather and black DLC steel hardware.
Pen: Studio Neat Mark Two
My pocket pen for signing checks and autographs. Shifts to full-size when in use, finished with black cerakote and polished stainless steel, Schmidt mini P8126 refill.
Pocket Art: Various
Here are various rare pieces to round out the EDC kit with personal meaning and for fidgeting. Such as the Urban EDC Seigaiha Wave Challenge Coin, Custom Blade Brigade EDC Shattered Carbon Fiber and Copper SFK Live With Purpose V1 Exclusive RE Patch.

Featured Tools:
Wallet: Arc Boulder Wallet
It's been a trusty companion for about 3 years now. I love how light weight the wallet is and the inner card slots totally eliminate the possibility of cards or cash slipping out. The two storage compartments are just perfect for my pen and micro tool. Also, I just like to support Mark at Arc Co. He's good people.
Pen: Big Idea Design Mini Click
I never realized how much I could lower my own cholesterol levels by having a pen in my EDC. Ever stood in line, pen-less at the post office? 1/10 do not recommend it.
This was actually given to me by the owner of my company last year during the holidays. He's rad dude and the pen itself is excellent. Almost a year in with it by my side every single day, and absolutely zero issues.
Flashlight: Olight Mini Baton 2
A flashlight is something that I started carrying recently. It never fails... If I forget it, I'll need it. This one has been great. I'll start really going down the flashlight rabbit hole eventually, but this one is fine for now. Plus, my wife LOVES it when I wear it on my hat (not).
Knife: Spyderco PM2 S45 Sprint
My work in eComm operations is even split between office and warehouse and the PM2 just fits right in. The one handed open/close is an absolute must and when it comes time to roll up the sleeves and break down boxes with the fulfillment crew, this thing is a monster. I also love the sentiment of spending a lot of time with such a classic knife, it makes me feel close to the hobby I love during hectic days.
Multi-tool: Leatherman PS4 Squirt
Favorite. Tool. Ever. Spring pliers, scissors, sharp little drop point blade, and a few others. Honestly, if I had to carry only one thing, it would probably be this.
Background
Knife collecting and EDC is somewhat of a rekindled hobby of mine. I spent the last decade and a half as a professional musician but LOVED knives and gadgets as a kid.
Somewhere there's a photo of me holding a massive sword at Disney World when I was like 4. About 8 years ago, I met a friend named Scott. Scott, to this day owns the most beautiful Paisley Chris Reeve Sebenza. I had never seen anything like it, and it started this childlike obsession all over again.
I love how makers of that caliber take a simple tool and fashion it absolute perfection. It's incredible to me the skill, patience and passion it takes to do that.
Fast forward a few years, I started to grow professionally in the eCommerce space and realized after a deal gone south that there was not a good, easy to use website to sell or buy knives on the secondary market that offered some protection for its users.
I talked it over with some other computer guys that are dear friends of mine and some of the most talented people you could ask for and in Sept 2019 we started to build Knafsale.
3 years later, we launched the site. It's a Buy-Sell user drive marketplace for Knife and EDC Enthusiasts. You guys will get to see soon how special it is. There are big things coming.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My Leatherman PS4 has a hold on my heart. Their "Wingman" model is a close second, it lives in my truck as my "just in case" knife. My wife is an avid gardener so she uses it often as well.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Definitely the Big Idea EDC Wrench is next on the list. Such a neat idea.

I got into EDC right after I earned my 2nd degree. I was working in IT imaging laptops and had to open boxes and repackage laptops all day. At the time I did not have a good knife.
So, after a little research I found the Spyderco Para 3. This just got me going down the Spyderco Sprint Run rabbit hole. Right now my main hobbies are reviewing and photographing EDC items over on Screaminpirate EDC, but what I love doing is smoking meat on my smoker. Hell, I even love smoked queso.
If I have any free time at all I spend it taking photographs or playing video-games on PC. Cyberpunk 2077 is my addiction of choice currently.
Favorite EDC Tool:
Not sure I would call it a 'tool', but the Death Cookie by 52 Graves and myself is easily my favorite EDC item currently. Great to fidget with.
The Death Cookie was originally intended to mark the location of a self-defense item in your home because they glow in the dark. This was useful because you did not have to turn on the lights when there might be an intruder.
Now? They are what Aaron over at 52 Graves EDC calls 'pocket treasure'. It's a rubber composite so it is a bit squishy and fun to fidget with. It's my favorite EDC item right now because it is a good conversation starter without being threatening in any way like a knuck or knife could possibly be.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Definitely on the lookout for an EDC dump tray, but as far as upcoming gear? The Null Knives Voodoo.

My favorite EDC tool is the Protech knives SBR. The SBR is the perfect size for me. Women’s clothing can be very limiting but the SBR can easily fit in my pocket.
The blade shape, ergonomics, and silky smooth automatic deployment are also some great features of the SBR. It was gifted to me by a friend in the community, whom I met at Blade Show Texas earlier this year.
As a woman, it has been hard for me to find “my people” so it’s been wonderful connecting with others who share my passion for EDC.

I started EDC as a young kid, when my father gifted me a Case Mini Trapper slip joint, I love that knife, carried it in my pocket daily for years.
Throughout High School I developed a knife addiction, I had a minimum wage job and spent just about every dime I made on knives. Over time I started collecting more EDC items, flashlights, pens, coins, even more knives, now it's become more of a lifestyle.
I'm an avid outdoorsman, spend much of my free time outdoors. I enjoy backpack camping, hunting, fly fishing and of course my most recent hobby, photography!
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite item on the list has to be the Benchmade 940. It's just a modern classic in the knife industry. Like I said before, it has an almost nostalgic feel every time I carry it, from years of admiration as a kid.
What's next on my Gear Radar:
Next on my radar is the Vox Urban EDC F5.5, I'm highly anticipating its release, I have it on pre-order! Voxnaes is by far one of my favorite knife designers. I find his knives very practical for daily use. I prefer smaller knives, and love the ergonomics and utilitarian designs he comes up with, I find them a joy to carry!

What's in your carry?
What's your story?
I currently live in Wisconsin but was in Illinois for most of my life. I am almost a decade into my career as an engineer in manufacturing. My current company makes aluminum castings and assemblies for the automotive industry.
I have always been the kind of person that loves tinkering with things, as well as legos, which let me into engineering. I am also married and have three little kids (4 and twins who are 2). They are really the reason I do what I do and also why I started my side company, GondekEDC. While very optimistic, I hope one day to be able to replace my current income with it and be able to work at home to spend more time with them.
I really didn’t know what EDC was when I started but graduating college I got a job at a die casting manufacturing company. I found myself needed a knife and a flashlight a lot at work. Then I found myself using these items outside of work. Way too much money, and years later I now have an EDC obsession like most of us. :)
With three little kids and a full-time job, I have very little time for hobbies. The few hours a day when the kids are sleeping and I am awake I spend it either on working out or my new business.
I have been an athletic person all my life and recently got into powerlifting. It is great to do in the basement and takes the least amount of time possible. Usually, in the evenings, I am working on GondekEDC. Whether that is making stuff, working on new products, or shipping out orders there is always something to be done.
Favorite EDC Tool?
The pry bar is my favorite for sure just based on what it has done for my life so far and hopefully the changes my company will continue to bring.
Other than the products I have made, the Zebralight for sure. It is rare to find something that checks every box but that flashlight does. I also use my EDC light all the time so having something I enjoy makes all the difference.
What's On Your Gear Radar?
There is always something to want. My grail item is an Oveready BOSS 35 light. I have wanted one for years but have not been able to justify the cost yet. Maybe one day. I also want to pick up a CRK Sebenza 21. I had one a while ago but sold it for some funds. I have been missing it ever since.

Alex (@alexerstad) hails from San Gabriel Valley and his everyday carry has come a long way since his barebones carry as a teenager. Alex has continuously refined and tweaked his carry to achieve what he feels is the perfect everyday carry. Read on for the full rig rundown now!
Featured Tools:
Background:
My EDC started when I was very young. I was mostly raised by my grandfather who always wore a watch and carried a pocket knife. He bought me cheap watches to wear and gave me pocket knives, which my parents hated. But he made it a point to me that if you can, don't leave home without a knife and watch.
As a teenager, I just carried a Kershaw and some cheap flashlight with a Gerber shard pocket tool on my messy key chain. Which is better than nothing, but far from perfect - right out of high school, it was all I could afford without a job.
A few years ago, I started working as a salesman in a knife and gear store here in Southern California - which is where my EDC started to get really serious. A short while before I got this job, I had started an Instagram and soon found out about how big the EDC community is. I have made a lot of good friends because of it ever since.
Over the last few years, I have perfected my EDC to what it is now, and I'm pretty happy with what I have. It's part of my job as a knife and gear salesman to know a lot about what I sell, which has helped me narrow down the things I carry today.
My hobbies consist of going to the shooting range, hiking and just being outdoors, though I don't do it as often as I would like. Mostly, when I'm not working I weight lift, surf Instagram for cool new gear, and spend time with my girlfriend.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite out of the bunch has to be my Sebenza. Overall, I haven't found a pocket knife I like to use and carry more than this one. Chris Reeve knives are just perfect - from the design to the feel in hand and how they perform - they are on a different level.
Another thing I really like about them is their customer service and warranty. If anything fails, they will fix it or replace it at no cost other than shipping which means I'm not worried about actually using it. I highly recommend anyone who loves knives to get a CRK.

Wallet: Self-made Leather Bi-fold
I made this leather cardholder myself. Over time, I've worked to carry less in a wallet because I hate sitting on something big in my back pocket. I had a tri-fold wallet made of fine elk skin and it lasted forever, but it was just too thick. When it wore out, I made a single-pocket card slip that I carried for about 5 years. After that, I made this bi-fold as I needed a bit more room. I've been using it for about 3 years now. It's made from veg-tanned leather and is saddle stitched with waxed nylon.
Background:
My EDC journey started when a customer recommended that I check out Instagram. It was then that I saw how many people posted pictures of "pocket dumps" and that really caught my interest.
Just like many others, I feel like I have been ‘EDCing’ for ever. I grew up in a household where you always carry a pocket knife, chapstick and of course your wallet on you. So I can remember all the way back to elementary school, when I was already carrying these items daily.
I really enjoyed it when some of the EDC Facebook groups featured "pocket dumps". I'm chagrined that this component is lesser seen now. I do belong to another phenomenal group that celebrates the use and carry of traditional slip joint pocket knives and related pocket stuff. I really like traditional knives for their classic construction and timeless aesthetic.
I'm happily married with two young daughters, so most of my time is spent with them. I also love making folding knives, EDC tools, jewelry and all sorts of other cool things. I guess my hobbies all involve making and creating. Another passion of mine is film photography, so we can add that to the list.
Favorite EDC Tool:
My favorite tool is a toss up between the HDS and my Sebenza. Aside from each being a technological masterpiece in their own right - I got them from two different and really great guys I befriended through my slip joint knife group. So they have extra sentimental value!

Maarten (@nerdism_edc) is a nerd in the best way possible. When he was trying to find out what knife works best for him, Maarten bought hundreds (yes, hundreds) of production knives to use and test. And because he’s a film buff, Maarten built his own movie theater in his basement, complete with a widescreen TV. You get the idea. So, read on to find out all about Maarten and his carefully curated everyday carry tools.
Featured Tools:
SAKs: Custom Victorinox
I carry a couple of them. The first being a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker with Brass Trooper scales by Andrzej Woronowski. Next is a Victorinox Rambler with Copper Trooper scales, also by Andrzej.
The Stormtrooper scales were also a custom build. Years ago when I just started out, Andrzej was willing to make custom scales for me with a Star Wars theme. He was the first maker that fused my two hobbies into one. This set in the photo is the most recent of an ever-growing collection. The large Victorinox even has a custom logo on the other side. A mix of both Woro_Knives and Nerdism_EDC logos.
What's your story:
My name is Maarten, and I'm 34 years old. I’m from the Netherlands close to the Belgian border. 6 months ago, I made a 360-degree career change. After a decade working in the social/youth work field, I became a data analyst specializing in geospatial data!
With having a degree in social sciences, that was quite a leap to take. But change is good and I don’t regret my decision for a second -it’s good to learn and do new things and find your way in a brand new field. And another upside, I added even more credibility to my Nerd status.
I first got into EDC at quite a young age. Always carried a knife with me everywhere I went. Such a practical tool. It was only during the last 5 to 6 years that I really got into it when I visited the Dutch knife forums and really connected with the community.
Somewhere in there, I tripped and fell into the rabbit hole called “knife collecting”. Those first few years I bought hundreds of (production) knives just finding out what I do and don’t like carrying. The years after, the quantity went down and the quality went up. I like frame lock knives... I think... maybe?
Aside from knives, I’m also a movie buff. I went even so far as to build my own movie theater in the basement with a 3.5-meter widescreen. And I just can’t listen to music enough. Always digging those crates looking to expand my record collection. I love to play the occasional video game with friends as well.
Also, a lot (no really, a lot) of time goes into the knife/gear hobby. Interacting with the community & other knife nerds, watching reviews, keeping an eye out for that next grail, making photos and posts for Nerdism_EDC. After all these years I still enjoy it.
Favorite EDC Tool:
It has to be the Shamwari and the Brass Victorinox. That is a very difficult question because the knives are all made by makers which I consider personal friends and whose work I admire.
I really like the Shamwari because it’s a custom build Gareth made for me. Thicker stock M390 blade, Snakewood handles, a light stonewash, and it runs on phosphor bronze washers. Making for an EDC knife that in my opinion cannot be beaten – in both performance and looks.
What's On Your Gear Radar:
Recently a lot of French knife makers are popping up (for me) with some impressive work. While not completely sure which one I would like to put on the shortlist, I will definitely keep an eye on them!
