Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member from our community and the gear they rely on everyday. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.
This week, we sit down with Tom (@tom1184), an Electrician from Nottinghamshire in England, U.K. Although his carry is limited by the conservative laws on knives in England, he still manages to find a way to carry his EDC gear with him. Find out what his favorite gear is and more!
Featured Tools:
Key Holder: Key Smart
Flashlight: Prometheus Lights Beta-QR
Multi-Tool: Victorinox Minichamp
Knife: Spyderco UKPK
Background:
Tom is an Electrician by trade but during his free time, he loves watching and playing soccer. He tells us that he's a huge fan of Manchester United going to as many matches as he can. He's also an avid outdoorsman, regularly going on hikes around Sherwood Forest with his son and camping whenever the British weather cooperates with him.
So how did he get introduced to the world of EDC? Tom tells us that he's always been fascinated with weapons and knives, since his father had served in the army. But, it wasn't until he joined Instagram a few years ago that he really got into EDC. He says that he started following a few knife makers and EDC pages and he was hooked!
Favorite EDC Tool:
When asked for his favorite tool, Tom didn't hesitate to highlight his Spyderco UKPK. It's one of the discontinued models so it's hard to find these days. With the strict rules on knives in the U.K., Tom is limited to carrying slip joint knives under 3" in blade length, so he tells us that the Spyderco UKPK is perfect for him.
