Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature a member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.

Based in China and working for an archery and outdoor sports equipment company, Bill's (@edc_urban_china) day-to-day requires a good amount of tools usage and elbow grease. And as a frequent traveler, his EDC has also evolved accordingly to breeze through security. Read on for the full rig rundown and find out why Bill carries a Minion hank.

Featured Tools:

  • Keychain: GITD Scorpion Key Chain
I love this key chain because it reminds me of my time living in Shanghai. When I bought it there I also got one for my son, brother, and brother-in-law. I think of them every time I see it. The scorpion is small, bold, unafraid, and able to strike in an instant. It is also patient and doesn’t strike unless threatened. For me, it's a reminder to be the same

  • Hank: Minion Pocket Hank
I won this in a GAW from Pocket Candy. I love the minions! They are very funny and silly. I admire their unity and commitment to one another.

  • Multi-tool: Leatherman Rev
This is my go-to at work. I use it for opening boxes or when I need one of the other tools it has in it. My coworkers are constantly asking to use it. It’s funny that my other co-workers don’t carry one yet. Maybe after I help them enough times they might start carrying their own.

  • SAK: Victorinox
I have always loved SAK. I bought this for myself for my birthday last year. I received a donation for some teaching I did for free. I didn’t expect the gift but was grateful for it and treated myself. Also, I use this as my main profile picture.

  • Utility Tool: Tactikey
The Tactikey is a great EDC defense and protection piece when traveling. I won this and 5 others from an IG GAW. I ended up giving one to each of my kids. Both my son and I have carried one into many different countries. It always makes it through customs in my pocket. It’s never even looked at on trains, planes, and boats.

      Background:

I’m based in China. I work for Khampa Sports, an archery and outdoor sports equipment company. I love exploring abandoned buildings and the outdoors. Along with hunting, hiking, fishing, baseball, and archery.

I first got into EDC as a boy. I loved carrying my first SAK around with me. As I grew older I continued the habit. I thoroughly enjoy speaking to others in the EDC community. My IG has been a great way to expand my EDC experience.

      Favorite EDC Tool:

The SAK Camo is my favorite. I've always loved SAK and their products. I also love my Tactikey because I can take it anywhere in the world without a problem. It is always in my pocket and never gets questioned.

      What's On Your Gear Radar:

I really want a brass/hardwood knuckle. I'm not sure if I should buy one or make one myself.
