Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature a member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.

Both a fighter and a lover, Davide (@gorillaknifest) is a lifelong student of boxing and is truly, madly, and deeply in love with his better half. When it comes to knives, Davide was first inspired by classic gangster movies and the deadly knife duels of Ancient Rome. Read on for the full story and find out all about Davide’s striking black and orange everyday carry.

Featured Tools:

  • Knife: Emerson x Kershaw CQC-7K
This is a collaboration between two important brands in the knife world. They mixed the budget nature of the Kershaw with the awesome design and solidity of the Emerson. This is a very fun knife with lots of ways to open it (including the super functional wave opening). If you love playing and flipping with your knife, it is the knife for you!

  • Knife 02: Fox "Dragotac" FX-519
This little knife is excellent. Italian quality mixed with the awesome design idea of Bastinelli. The shining orange handle in FRN is very good to the touch and the blade in N690 is really sharp. It is so little that you can use it as a keychain and forget about having it in your pocket, but at the same time is very manageable and easy to open. It was a Christmas gift from my family, so I love it in every possible way!

  • SAK: Victorinox Tourist:
I always carry a SAK with me. Small, functional and strong. If you have it, you are ready for everything!

What's your story:

Hi, my name is Davide and I am from Rome. I'm 23 years old and I'm studying to become a physiotherapist.

I first entered the knife world when I was a little child, fascinated by the great classic gangster movies and the ancient stories of the Roman bullies, who used the typical Roman dueling knife to solve all kinds of conflicts (In Rome, the classic “Roman locker with three latches” is an important tradition).

The problem is that in Italy the law doesn't allow you to carry knives for every day (STUPID LAW!), so I always bring with me only a little SAK or the FX-519. They are small, more harmless, and easier to justify. If I go to the mountains, in the woods or on an excursion I can carry with me all I want.

In my free time I love to go out with my group of friends, we have a meeting point for our crew/squad in a square in front of a Pub and we see each other almost every day.  Also, I’m madly in love with my girlfriend. She is my partner in crime – whatever we do together becomes fun, even sitting on a simple bench. When we are together, we become like kids again, it is fantastic!

But the greatest passion of my life is boxing, aka "the noble art." I'm in love with this sport since I was 13 and I train 5 to 6 times a week!

Favorite EDC Tool:

My favorite EDC items are not present in the shot above. They are my Spyderco Tenacious with G10 brown scale. Only a few people have this knife with this scale color (it was a gift from my girlfriend), my titanium Sanrenmu 1161 that is the most fun knife I ever had for flipping and my Victorinox Hiker with titanium scale from Dailycustom shop (it is the most expensive item in my collection).

What's On Your Gear Radar:

On my radar there are many knives, my next purchase will be the two Sun TS86 designed by Kyle of KC KNIVES, he has created a futuristic and elegance design, I love it.

But my real dream is others, for example, HEAdesign, Rike, Heretic, GiantMouse, too many to list all. Right now these brands are too expensive for me but in the future, they will definitely be added to my growing collection.
