Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.

From Gothenburg, Sweden, Marcus (@_macktheknife_) works with kids with special needs while working part-time at a motorcycle shop. For him, less is always more and that’s the guiding philosophy of his EDC. Read on for his full rig rundown and find out how Marcus uses each and every one of his carefully chosen tools.

Featured Tools:

  • SAK: Victorinox Cadet
This is the reason for my dive into the EDC world. I did plenty of research before getting it and it was the perfect choice for my everyday needs. The only thing I haven’t used yet is the can-opener. It cuts labels, loose strings off clothing, tightens random screws and even does some whittling. It gets used all the time for everything and anything!

  • Pen: Fisher Bullet Space Pen
The item in my EDC that gets the least amount of use. My Fisher pen is mostly used for shopping lists, notes at work, or to sign receipts. I went with the silver model because it matches the steel of my Cadet. I enjoy it because it writes on most surfaces and has a very long shelf life.

  • Multi-tool: Leatherman Style PS
This is a fantastic little tool. I was originally going for a Leatherman Squirt but I stumbled upon this at a hardware store. I like the skeletonized look of it and addition of the tweezers. It sees plenty of daily use just like my Cadet.

  • Carabiner: Nite Ize #2 S-biner
Such a simple yet useful little tool. I use it mostly to hold my Cadet to a belt loop.

  • Knife: Spyderco Delica 4
I doubt it needs an introduction on a site like this. The Delica 4 rides along when I know there’s some cutting to do. It's very dependable whether I'm chopping down cardboard boxes or going into the woods. I like it because it's super lightweight, the texture on the FRN scales offers great grip, and the ”Spydiehole” makes it easy to use one-handed.

  • Keyring: Nintendo NES
I don’t carry this very often but I wish I did! It is a rubber NES controller and represents my inner nerd. I actually still have my original NES console I got for Christmas more than 30 years ago. It holds the key to my motorcycle which I don’t ride nearly enough. When I do ride I prefer gravel roads into our beautiful forests here in Sweden.

      Background:

I’m Marcus, a father of three lovely little kids and husband to a wonderful wife. I work with kids with all sorts at a special needs high school. The school is a short bike ride from home just outside of Gothenburg.

I also work extra at a motorcycle shop. I get to try out all sorts of two-wheeled motorized toys. Having three kids, there’s not much time for riding motorcycles though. In my spare time, I’m mostly with my family and friends. I enjoy music, movies, video games, cars, and riding bikes (even the ones with pedals).

I first got into EDC a couple of years ago when I got my Cadet. After that, I started following some EDC-accounts on Instagram, and BOOM, you’re hooked! For me, less is more. That’s the way my EDC is built. I prefer high value over bling. All of my gear is getting used properly.

      Favorite EDC Tool:

My Victorinox Cadet is still my favourite and I carry and use it every day.

      What's On Your Gear Radar:

      A small flashlight and/or a custom SAK.
