Welcome to the Urban EDC Showcase! Each week, we feature one member of the EDC community and the gear they rely on every day. Want to be featured? Submit your gear photo.

From Marietta, Ohio, we chat with Courtney (@bladeantly_obvious) who’s studying to be a Medical Cannabis Technician. Growing up on a tobacco farm, she always found a use for a sharp blade, whether it’s the SAK from her father or the Case fixed blade from her Pawpaw. Read on to learn all about Courtney’s sleek carry and her wonderfully diverse interests and hobbies.

Featured Tools:

  • Knife: Spyderco Delica Wharncliffe
My daily carry is a Spyderco Delica Wharncliffe with FRN scales & VG10 blade steel. It has a beautiful acid stonewash done by @knivesplus with a Lynch clip for deep carrying purposes. I carry this piece because it’s fun to fidget with and lightweight. I love lightweight items, especially ones that are aesthetically pleasing. I often use this knife for cutting fishing line and miscellaneous tasks that come my way.

  • SAK: Custom Titanium Farmer X
The next item is a custom @875fps titanium Farmer X with bronzed screws, a brass key ring, and titanium mini chugger. I carry the Farmer X because it’s a compact multi-tool ready for anything I throw at it. It features: a large blade, can opener, various screwdrivers, wire strippers, wood saw, and added scissors. It’s 4 layers of chunky goodness!

  • Hank: Clay Garrett
Next is one of my favorite handkerchiefs made by Clay Garrett. This is great for wiping my hands and the tears of kindergarteners at work when they fall on the playground.

  • Watch: Coach
Last but not least is my everyday watch. It is a Coach watch with a classic brown leather band. It runs perfectly and is easy on the eyes.

      Background:

I was born and raised in West Virginia. I moved to Marietta, Ohio about 3 years ago. I have worked in an elementary school as a librarian and one-on-one with special needs students. I’m also currently a college student studying to be a Medical Cannabis Technician.

My dad gave me my first knife when I was around 8 years old. It was a Swiss Army knife. My Pawpaw also gave me a Case fixed blade around the same time. I grew up on a tobacco farm and we were constantly cutting twine. A knife was always a useful tool to have.

I also used the same knives while ginseng hunting, fishing, and trapping small game. Carrying these knives became a part of my life and it felt wrong not to have one on me at all times. To me carrying a knife is more than just convenience but it’s memories of my childhood.

In my free time, I enjoy anything outdoors. Fishing, shooting guns, riding ATV’s, hiking, walking my dogs, and camping are some of my favorite outdoor activities. My fiancé and I also enjoy antique shopping and working together on our home projects.

      Favorite EDC Tool:

My favorite knife to carry would be the custom Farmer X. Not only is it ready for any task that comes its way but it’s also reminiscent of the first carry I had as a child.

      What's On Your Gear Radar:

A Chris Reeve Small Tanto Sabenza is next on my list right now!
