We didn’t think it was possible to make a better pen than the original Tactile Turn Mover and Shaker, which was beautifully designed and impeccably crafted. But once again, the perfectionist that is Will Hodges has proved us wrong with his new and improved Tactile Turn Mover and Shaker V2.
With their sleek design and flawless craftsmanship, the original Mover and Shaker were a hit and were incredibly popular. However, Will began to receive feedback from his customers that the mechanisms would eventually wear out with extended use. And that was because the solid brass internal mechanisms were the only parts that Will could not fabricate himself due to the lack of the proper machines.
So Will set out designing a new mechanism a couple of years ago and eventually bought a new machine to make his self-designed internal click mechanisms himself. Now that is a sheer dedication to quality.
Designed from the ground up and meticulously machined from solid titanium, Will has achieved the ultimate click mechanism. Unlike its solid brass predecessor, the enlarged titanium click mechanism is able to withstand long-term abuse, while adding travel to the stroke distance so the refills retract significantly far into the pen when in the retracted position.
In addition to the refined travel distance and virtually indestructible internal mechanism, the new Mover and Shaker have a longer grip area for extra comfort, along with other subtle improvements.
With his machining mastery, Will Hodges is easily one of our favorite makers. The attention to detail on the Tactile Turn Mover & Shaker, and insistence on perfection, even in places that you are likely to never see - elevates these pens from good to great and firmly stakes their claim as bona fide movers and shakers in this category.
Guide to Choose Between the Mover and Shaker:
The Mover is the slightly longer version that comes with a 0.38mm Pilot G2 with black ink refill. These allow many refills to fit and most require no modification at all. The Shaker is slightly shorter and comes with a Schmidt Easy Flow 9000 medium point with black ink and will fit all other "Parker style" refills. Both pens fit well in almost all hands, though if you have larger hands you might be more comfortable with a Mover. Shakers tend to fit better in shirt pockets without sticking out.
