Kitchen knives are some of the hardest to design and make, simply because of the sheer frequency, range of use, and abuse it receives – day in, day out, dripping wet, freezing cold, burning hot. You get the idea.
That's why when we heard that legendary custom knifemaker, Jens Anso, has finally created his first custom kitchen knives, we knew it was going to be something extraordinary. Because if you know Anso, he never settles for anything less.
Far exceeding any of our expectations, the Anso Njord custom paring knife merges old-world Japanese tradition and craftsmanship with Danish design pragmatism and sensibilities.
Beautifully functional, the blades are forged in Japan with 33 layers of San Mai Steel with a core of VG10, giving the blade its unique patterned look, incredible strength, and an amazingly resilient edge. With this stunning custom paring knife in your kitchen, you're ready to take on the world and cook up a storm.
The handles – designed for extended kitchen use in mind – are made from environmentally-friendly, recycled oak wood, black, or brown micarta which will develop a gentle patina with time and use. In addition, they are treated with a special sealing method to keep out the damp and maintain its durability and beauty throughout its lifetime.
Completely handmade from scratch, the elegantly minimal Anso Njord custom paring knife is lovingly and meticulously designed, shaped, finished, and adjusted to absolute perfection.
And if you're looking for extra affirmation (as it if it's needed), the Anso Njord Kitchen Knife Set is the proud winner of the Red Dot Award for Product Design. So, you know you are getting the best paring knife out there.
