High-Flying EDC Watch
The term ‘flyboy’ was used to describe a pilot belonging to the air force. And the Avi-8 Flyboy harkens back to the high-flying era of hair-raising open cockpit dogfights and the heroism, swagger and sense of duty that came with it. Now it’s time to buckle down and strap on a piece of military history on your wrist with the Avi-8 Flyboy.
With such a storied heritage, it’s only natural that the Flyboy is a prime example of form following function. The generously-sized 42mm case along with the large and subtly blacked-out numerals and well-proportioned indices make for a highly legible and instantly readable dial. This is crucial because the pilots had to be able to tell the time in an instant when in the air.
What’s most interesting is that while the Flyboy is an aviator watch at heart, it weaves in modern elements to add a refreshing and playful touch to the watch. Firstly, the crosshair motif on the dial was inspired by the racing watches of the 1960’s and the seconds hand that is tipped with a red "plane-style" arrow is borrowed from the iconic Lemania 5100 movement.
The Japanese quartz movement that beats within is incredibly accurate and reliable and requires little to no care. It also features a date function, and when combined with the 5ATM water resistance and robust good looks - makes for the perfect everyday watch that you can proudly wear to the office or on a night out into town.
The Avi-8 Flyboy draws from the best of its military aviation heritage and combines it with modern elements to create a truly unique and one-of-a-kind piece. If you’re looking for a functional, yet distinct timepiece that performs as well as it looks - this is your boy.
