If you don't know Sacha Thiel, you will now. As one of the finest French custom knife makers, Sacha specializes in high-tech folders and tactical blades. Now, he has channeled his unique experience and expertise into the creation of his first-ever slip joint.
Eagled-eyed traditional knife fans would immediately notice that the Birdy draws inspiration from the iconic Native by Jared Oeser. Sacha has taken (with permission) the Native's lines and curves and expanded upon in to create his own design language and expression.
This Birdy is a predator. The razor-sharp M390 blade is an intriguing mix between a reverse tanto and a modified Wharncliffe blade that handles all everyday tasks from delicate food preparation to heavy-duty cuts with ease.
Built for supreme comfort in the hand, the gently contoured titanium handles are practically indestructible. While the perfectly-tuned and tension back spring, bronze beryllium washers, and stainless steel screws complete this highly functional cutter.
But what's most revealing is the sheer attention to detail that Sacha has poured into the blade. In every position – open, close, and even half-opened – everything is beautifully flushed and aligned. What's more, the top inner spacers are hollowed to avoid premature wear and tear over repeated opening and closing.
The Birdy is a labor of love. Drawing out the best from the iconic Oeser Native while adding his own French flair, the Sacha Thiel Birdy Slip Joint is a one-of-a-kind, "Magnifique" masterpiece of the highest order.
