Say hello to the Queen of bugs. The iconic Ladybug has been a staple in Spyderco's catalog for 3 decades since the launch of the Ladybug 1 in 1990 – and for good reason. And today the smallest lightweight Spyderco locking knife is back and better than ever before.
Designed for extreme portability, the Ladybug is the size of your car keys and can fit seamlessly on your keychain carry or slide into your watch pocket unnoticed, that is until you need to get some cutting done.
Tiny but incredibly mighty, this exclusively lasered Ladybug features a K390 blade produced by Bӧhler-Uddeholm. This super-steel is a high-alloy particle metallurgy tool steel enriched with high volumes of vanadium, tungsten, and cobalt. This translates to exceptional edge retention and unmatched toughness.
Stealing the show, the custom handles are handcrafted by Jamie Feinstein in Omaha, and feature a 13-layer combination of silver, copper and brass that uses irregular stacking to create the unique and glorious Mokume Gane patterns.
You would be hard-pressed to find another custom Ladybug out there, and especially not one like this. Entirely hand-made including the chamfered edges, this Ladybug is the epitome of one-of-a-kind.
Mokume Gane is a Japanese metalworking technique that produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. Mokume gane translates to "wood grain metal" or "wood eye metal", which describes the way the metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.
