Working in special collaboration with Reate Knives (who has more than proven their ability and credentials as one of the foremost knife producers in the world ), the Front Flipper Apache has all the classic design cues of the traditional knives we all know and love, but with the unmistakable Peña treatment.
Based on the custom Peña Apache, the Apache Flipper features an incredibly handsome and balanced M390 Wharncliffe blade with a reverse Tanto point – which allows it to excel at both precision cuts and piercing through heavy material. Going against convention, this high-performance hybrid blade features a slick flipper tab for snappy action, and a sturdy bolster lock.
What sets this Apache further apart is the implementation of the Kickstop opening mechanism by Lee Williams. The flipper tab itself is not a part of the blade tang, and is instead attached to the frame by a separate pin. This means that when the blade is closed, the tab sticks out from the spine in the normal place, but after the knife opens, it rotates on its pin (which also functions as the stop-pin) to conceal itself within the handle.
The handle scales come in your choice of Green or Natural Micarta, Jigged Titanium, and Carbon Fiber – all of which are breathtaking. For a more timeless feel, go with the micarta options. For something more modern, you can't go wrong with titanium or carbon fiber.
