Laulima Metal Craft is the brainchild of Mitch Lum and Josh from Dawson Machine Craft. As longtime and highly involved members of the EDC and flashlight communities, they have come together to design and bring to life a truly one-of-a-kind flashlight - the Malihini - which reflects their unique perspective and values.
As explained by Mitch, Malihini is the Hawaiian word for 'newcomer'. While this is definitely not their first rodeo, the name is a way for them to highlight their immense respect and gratitude towards the esteemed group of custom light builders who lent a hand in the development of their first flashlight.
Produced in achingly small numbers, the Malihini is custom machined from solid brass and lightweight aluminum. Powered by a single 18350, it puts out over 1300 lumens by way of the triple Nichia 219C emitters that renders colors more accurately, allowing you to see better in the dark.
In operation, the Malihini uses the high-performance H17F driver by Dr. Jones. This feature-rich driver has battery monitoring and thermal control to step down when your voltage gets below 3.0V or above 60*C. The H17F driver is also fully user programmable so you can configure it to your specific needs.
In addition, the Malihini features the industry-leading McClicky switch, scratch-resistant sapphire glass, and a Prometheus boot. Not to mention, it sports the classic Steel Flame Dog Paw clip. Every detail on the Malihini is fine-tuned to perfection, with no expenses spared in its creation.
